  1. Personal Statement

I am a distinguished academic in the Surveying and Geomatics Engineering field with research interest in environmental monitoring and modelling using modern geospatial technologies for advancing sustainable solutions in urban and land change mechanisms. I have focused on the application of photogrammetric and remote sensing methods for the development of land use and urban mechanisms with special focus on sustainable land use and urban dynamics. I have studied the changes in the urban environment of major cities in Nigeria and modelled pattern of urban growth and expansion for the understanding of sustainable urban development. Hence, I have worked on sustainable energy for some cities in West Africa as well as transportation, security and economic activities. My work also spanned into the impact of the changes in land use on agriculture and the resultant implications on food security in Nigeria.  My ultimate goal is to model the urban system in Nigeria with the interest by giving direction for a sustainable urban development as well as being able to direct land use dynamics towards ensuring food security and sustainable economy through interdisciplinary research collaborations.
