Personal Statement
Professor Adeosun was Head of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, University of Lagos, Nigeria between August 1st 2018-July 31st 2021. He facilitated the signing and operation of an MOU between the University of Lagos and TUT Pretoria South Africa. He has over 150 publications to his credit. He has contributed to Ten book chapters and two full books. He has mentored fifteen PhDs with five students currently under supervision nationally and internationally. He was a visiting scholar at the Chemical Engineering Innovation Group Laboratory, Soochow University Suzhou, China (August 10th -December 10th,2013) and at the Department of Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, the Tshwane University of Technology Pretoria West campus, Pretoria, South Africa (November 13th -December 9th, 2017) He was a PI of Unilag CRC and TETFUND-funded research. He has been appointed as an Honorary Research Associate to the Industrial Engineering Department at Durban University of Technology, Durban South Africa, and as an Extraordinary Professor in the Department of Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, the Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria, South Africa.
Recently his research team developed
Biodegradable and biocompatible PLA-Chitin composite implant with potential for orthopaedic applications using PLA with chitin extracted from the exoskeleton of crabs and shrimps.
A single unit high voltage generator for electrospinning of polymer nano/microfiber and; Aluminum (Si/Br/Zr) composites suitable for automobile brake pads.
Biodegradable and biocompatible surgical suture using blends of PLA/Chitosan and LDPE/PLA/Chitosan
Development of Non-Fluoride Beneficiation and Separation Technique for Niobium Recovery from Columbite Mineral Ore.
Development and Characterization of Polymer Matrix Nano-Particulate Composite Insulator Core for High Voltage Transmission Line by Spark Plasma Sintering Technique
Laser Additive Manufacturing and Characterization of Aluminium-Cobalt Based High Entropy Alloys for Aerospace Application
Ongoing Studies include:
Development of a Bio-source Mannequin for training of radiologists in sonography using gelatin.
Extraction of lignin and carbon fibre from plant-based sources for use in medical and automotive industries.
Development of conducting polymers for electrical and electronic uses.
Development of Bio-sourced polymeric-ceramic composites’ Cartilages for fractured bone Remodeling.
Synthesis of polylactide, PLA from corn, millet, cassava, and potatoes for potential use in composites suitable for applications in medicine, recreational activities, packaging, automotive industries, etc.
Studies on Materials Development that would reduce CO2 emissions in Electronics, Construction, Transportation, Communication, and Power Transmission (insulators).
Wear and Thermomechanical Characterization of Al6063/Zircon/Quarry Tailings Composite for Engine Valve Guide fabrication.
