A. Personal Statement
Dr. Olurotimi A. Adeleye obtained his Ph.D. degree in Mechanics in Biomaterials in the department of Systems Engineering. His Ph.D. thesis is titled “Experimental and Numerical Analyses of Nonlinear Deformation of Dental Resin composites”. In his Ph.D. research work he developed a deformation predictive model for dental resin composite that accounts for both viscoelastic and viscoplastic components of the response of the dental resin composite to various loading conditions. Before and after his Ph.D studies, he has been teaching courses in the following areas Computational Mechanics, Biomechanics, Biomaterials, Robotics Modeling and Applications, Continuum Mechanics, Analytical and Numerical Methods, Operational Methods in Engineering and Engineering Mathematics, Rigid Body Dynamics, Differential Equations, Engineering Mathematics Statistics, and Applied Mathematics.
His research interest is in computational biomechanics and the designs and development of biomaterial implants for the human body. His research focuses on how natural and synthetic materials interact with biological systems. These range from the inert materials used to replace entire joints to biomimetic scaffolds that restore functionality by promoting the body to regenerate the lost tissue. His research also involves characterizing existing biomaterial implants to developing novel polymeric biomaterials and finding new ways to replace, repair, or regenerate tissues lost or damaged from injury and disease. His contribution to knowledge covers areas of modeling and simulations of biomechanical behavior of human body system, design and development of prosthesis and biomaterials and developing analytical and numerical solutions for these models. He has published over forty-five (45) papers in these areas of study both locally and internationally.
