A. Personal Statement
With over three decades of experience in teaching and research, I’ve made significant contributions to the development of water resources curriculum and research as a Professor of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering at the University of Lagos. My recent research focus has been on groundwater hydraulics and contaminant transport in coastal aquifers, Lagos, Nigeria. Understanding the complexities of Lagos’ coastal aquifer is crucial for sustainable extraction, maintaining water quality, and preventing contamination. To achieve this, I’ve established collaborative efforts with key stakeholders, including Lagos State Water Corporation and Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission, through consulting and research partnerships with international institutions like Cardiff University (UK) and University of Ibadan.
Notably, my research group has also collaborated with the ARUA Water Centre of Excellence at Rhodes University, South Africa, on groundwater contamination research also in Lagos. These partnerships underscore my commitment to advancing water resources management and sustainability.
