Personal Statement
I am a senior lecturer of metallurgical and materials engineering. I have a broad background in metallurgy with specific training and expertise in rolling technology. My work has significantly contributed to the understanding of mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and the optimisation of production processes in various materials. My research interest covers advanced materials development for emerging technology applications. I have held academic positions at notable institutions, including the University of Lagos and the Federal University of Technology, Minna, where I have been involved in both teaching and research. My publications reflect a commitment to advancing knowledge in the field, with recent studies exploring the effects of graphite addition on brass, the utilisation of acacia gum in foundry processes, and the performance of nanocomposite coatings. Having spent about fifteen years (1992-2007) in the industry at Ajaokuta Steel Company Ltd, as production engineer, shift manager and later as technical assistant to G.M. Rolling Mills, I joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, Nigeria, in 2007, where I obtained my PhD. My doctoral work was on a performance assessment of selected Nigerian vegetable oils as quenching media for medium carbon steel”. I am a registered engineer and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Metallurgical Society.
