A highly-motivated, exceptional, dynamic, industrious, ambitious and innovative academic, offering progressively responsible experience in teaching and research expertise in Mechanical Engineering coupled with relevant skills to promote world leading research and student achievement. Displays extensive experience having taught and assessed numerous courses coupled with curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Mechanical Engineering across various universities while promoting student feedback and involvement to achieve student success. A passionate and dedicated researcher successful in building team spirit, promoting interdisciplinary research collaboration and providing quality leadership; committed to the success of the Department, University and society. Presently working as an Associate Professor with previous appointments as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Temporary Assistant, Lecturer (temporary) and Visiting Senior Lecturer; has several publications, editorial board member, reviewer, registered engineer and member of engineering professional bodies.

His research expertise is in the area of manufacturing processes, composite materials, plastic and mining waste recycling and technologies, composite materials, lightweight structures, and mechanical testing of materials. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, Dr Onitiri’s research interest focuses on fostering cutting-edge research that integrates his expertise with interdisciplinary collaboration, computational modelling and experimental applications by adopting cutting-edge research using advanced manufacturing techniques, experimentation and numerical simulations coupled with digital tools. This would enhance the overall advancement of the building, automobile and aerospace industry, thereby addressing the socio-environmental challenges associated with the industry and promote circular economy. He has cultivated a dynamic research portfolio significantly influenced by an unwavering passion for advancing innovative materials and processes that tackles contemporary challenges in manufacturing, materials engineering, structural efficiency and society.
