A.         Personal Statement

I am a matured professional with over thirty-five years of combined experience in academia and the upstream oil and gas industry. This rich and unique experience is deployed to the benefits of the students I teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. My current areas of research interest include modeling, simulation & control, energy processes, computational intelligence, process safety and project engineering. We employ advanced modeling and computational/statistical techniques, including machine learning methods, to the analysis, design, optimization and control of chemical and energy processes to achieve better performance and efficiency. I am the author/co-author of more than fifty technical papers in national and international refereed journals and proceedings of conferences, book chapters and one edited book. I am a Fellow of Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE) elected since 2001, a senior member of AIChE, IEEE, and ISA, and a member of both SPE and NSE. I have been a 2-time (1996 & 1998) NSChE Presidential Merit Award recipient for my excellent contributions to the development and promotion of the chemical engineering profession in Nigeria, along with several other workplace awards and recognitions. I have been actively involved with the organization of many conferences and technical events for the NSChE and has been a co-editor of four proceedings of the NSChE conferences. I am currently the Coordinator of the Chemical Engineering postgraduate (M.Sc. & PhD) programmes in the Department.
